Sommelier career pathway

This career pathway has been developed in conjunction with the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and the Institute of Masters of Wine.

Its aim is to aid with the education choices of those entering the wine trade, depending on the career goals desired. The pathway distinguishes between the two main and most common options; whether is a career in the on-trade (restaurants, hotels) as a sommelier or wine buyer; or in the off-trade as sales representative or retail buyer.
